Hacker League Local rules explained

Ball lost not in a hazard.  i.e.: in trees, or high grass (rough, etc..)

Hacker League interpretation: If you and playing partner(s) are reasonably certain about where the ball was headed prior to being lost, determine the point where the ball left the FAIRWAY (crossed the boundary between the fairway and the rough), and take a drop in the fairway within 2 club lengths of that point.  Assess a 1-stroke penalty.

Ball in standing water:

Hacker league interpretation: If in a bunker, relief must be taken IN THE BUNKER.  If full relief is not possible, then maximum possible relief should be attempted, this may include moving closer to the pin while remaining inside the bunker.  If this is not possible, then player may take relief outside of the bunker, keeping the spot of the original ball between the drop-point and the hole. A 1-stroke penalty applies. Player may drop as far back as desired along that line.

Ball in fairway or rough: Relief is taken at the nearest point, no nearer the hole, however, must be taken in the same general area. Meaning, rough-to-rough, fairway-to-fairway.  You may not move from the rough to the fairway to gain relief.

Ball resting on bare ground:

Hacker league interpretation: If in the fairway, relief may be taken by dropping within one club-length, no nearer the hole, no penalty.

If in the rough, and not considered to be part of a cart path, nor ground under repair, no relief is warranted.  Otherwise, 2 club-length relief, no nearer the hole, no penalty.

I would also like to propose the following, in the interest of keeping things fun when bunkers are involved.

Given the inconsistent playability of bunkers at Eagle Crest, I’d like to propose the following options for proceeding when your ball is in the bunker.

At the player’s preference for any ball in the bunker, you may:

A)      Play as normal taking as many shots as are necessary to exit the bunker

Or

B)      Make at least ONE attempt to play out of the bunker. If unsuccessful, you may continue trying to exit the bunker, but you may, at any time, option to take a drop OUTSIDE of the bunker, keeping the last ball position between the drop point and the hole.  This drop would still require a 1-stroke penalty.
